Sexual health & Screening

sexual health donegal

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are transmitted through unprotected sex, including oral, anal and vaginal sex. Any sexually active person may be exposed to an STI and should get tested regularly, at least twice a year.

Many STIs have no symptoms and if left untreated can result in infertility in both sexes and other serious medical conditions; that is why STI testing or screening is so important. Furthermore, if you are pregnant and think you might have an STI, it is particularly important to get tested and treated as soon as possible.

The good news is that treatment for most STIs is simple and painless. Some of the most common STIs can be treated with a one-day antibiotic course.
At Inishowen Medical we provide full and comprehensive screening tests for STI’s. These include:

• Chlamydia
• Gonorrhoea
• HIV
• Hepatitis B/C
• Syphillis

We also provide treatment for genital warts and genital herpes. We can arrange vaccinations for hepatitis B and HPV. We can provide a certificate of clearance upon request. A male or female doctor is available on request in the clinic.

If you have any further queries or want to make an appointment for an STI screen, please contact us.
