Blood Tests are often useful to aid the clinician to make a diagnosis. They are also used to monitor a chronic condition or monitoring the effectiveness of a chronic medication. They also play a role in health screening checks.
Every blood result performed is reviewed by the requesting doctor and the result will then be conveyed to you. This review process can take up to 8 working days which will allow for a comprehensive assessment of the result, your clinical presentation at the time of the test and the formation of a clinical management plan.
If you have not heard from us in that timeframe, we ask you to phone for your results between 11am and 1pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We will have our nurse at hand at those times to answer any queries you have regarding your laboratory result. Furthermore, the doctor may have pre-arranged a review appointment with you; this is sometimes required to complete the clinical picture for a given issue/ presentation
